Water

This week has been bitterly cold & unfortunately, froze the pipe that brings the water up to the yard & house from our pond. We had to struggle with a garden pump & hose-pipes to get water up to the yard & then carry it in buckets to the house. Nigel was so keen to get it all up & running last Sunday that he went without breakfast. What seemed like fun at first soon paled into frustration, what a time-consuming task. I sometimes, wonder how our forebears managed. Anyway, the mares didn’t mind as they had extra rations.
