....begins Monday, so my mind is thinking ahead to the 2010 foal crop and in particular to my Hollywood Dun It daughter – Steps Dunnit. Now, she is in foal to Zans Smokin Bay. I have written about him on my reference stallions page. His sire Zans Last Light is renowned for throwing good looking offspring, but then looking into Zans Last Light’s performance record, he is an excellent horse in his own right. He earned a total of 97.5 AQHA points in eight events. He was the 1991 Junior Calf Roping Champion and in that same year he came fourth in Junior Heeling. He earned 5.5 halter, 29.5 heeling, 25 heading, 12.5 calf roping 11.5 reining, 7 working cow horse, 5.5 hunter under saddle points and not forgetting that 1 trail point. That is a true all-rounder. Zans Last Light is the sire of money earners and AQHA point earners. His sire the legendary Zan Parr Bar is the all time leading sire of World Champion Performance horses. He is the sire of horses earning over 25,000 points in almost every AQHA approved event. Carol Rose Quarter Horses, one of the top breeders in the world, owned him. Carol Rose used Zan Parr Bar to cross on her legendary mare Diamonds Sparkle, this mare had won the 1979 World Show Superhorse title. This cross proved inspirational as such greats like Sparkles Rozeana, Sparkles Suzana and Zans Diamond Sun were produced.
